The American affordability crisis is due to a surfeit of PTLs, people Paid To Lie.
During most of the 20th Century, PTLs were an insignificant group, comprising advertising executives, professional appraisers, military recruiters, press agents, College Deans, and some lawyers.
Such jobs were highly compensated. In 1995, PTL’s average income was in the top 10% of the nation. Affordability was not an issue with PTLs.
In 1996, Fox News began featuring PTLs as anchors and reporters. Fox’s ratings and revenues exploded. Media barons soon concluded that the James Restons and Walter Chronkites were passe. America wanted partisan red meat from PTLs.
The ease with which Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow prevaricated encouraged viewers to enter the PTL industry. They became social media influencers and hoped to get rich by tweeting that the left, or right, are flaming assholes. I am not making this up. There are now 27 million PTL content creators in America with 12 million working full time.
As PTL supply skyrocketed, demand decreased due to Trump. Trump lied 30,573 times in his first term. He wanted more lies in his second term and nominated magnificent world-class liars to cabinet positions. Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem, Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy, Howard Lutniik, Scott Bessent, and the rest pledged to lie at least
30,537 times in Trump’s second term.
Influencers followed polemical cabinet members. Social media PTLs lost 97% of their followers. Banks began foreclosing on their mortgages. However, no one wanted to listen to them when:
Kash Patel reveals that FBI records showed “no credible information” of Jeffrey Epstein
trafficking young women to anyone except himself. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. contends, “I have never been anti-vax.” Pete Hegseth praises Trump for directing “the most complex and secretive military operation in history.” Pam Bondi alleges that Trump for saved 258 million American lives within his first 100 days. Scott Bessent claims that grocery prices have decreased.
It goes on: Kristy Noem insists that ICE officers shot Alex Pretti in self-defense. Howard Lutnick, after visiting Jeffrey Epstein 2005 “decided that I will never be in the room with that disgusting person ever again.” Doug Burgum, Secretary of the Interior, labels rich oilmen who donate millions to Trump’s campaign “job creators.” Russell Vought, director of the Office of Management and Budget, explains the impact of The One Big Beautiful Bill that cuts $800 billion in Medicaid spending is that “No one will lose coverage as a result of this bill.”
When demand plummets and supply soars, prices for PTLs fall off a cliff. Twenty-seven million social media PTLs cannot compete with Trump and his cabinet. They go broke. Banks foreclose on their mortgages.
Trump’s cabinet has no affordability issues, shown by their net worths below:
Linda McMahon, $3.2 billion, Secretary of Education; Howard Lutnick, $3.1 billion, Secretary of Commerce; Steven Witkoff, $2 billion, Special Envoy; Kelly Loeffler, $1.3 billion Small Business Administration; Doug Burgum, estimated $1.1 billion, Secretary of Interior; Scott Bessent, estimated $600 million, Secretary of the Treasury; Chris Wright, $100 million, Secretary of Energy; Sean Duffy, $25.8 million, Secretary of Transportation.
I enjoy the irony of these strivers, having reached the pinnacle of American success, now
humiliating themselves daily, ordered to spread nonsense that they, and rest of the world, know to be disgraceful lies.
