It’s likely that you’re having the best decade of your life right now, or at least that you think so. That’s according to new data from online research firm YouGov, which surveyed 1,131 U.S. adults in November about what decade of their lives is, was or will be their best and worst. The result: a plurality of adults of almost all ages said their current decade is their best.
This was true especially of people in their 20s, 30s and—surprisingly, perhaps—70s. Scarcely any respondents under 70 said they expect that birthday to usher in their best decade. But it did, say 30 percent of the septuagenarians.
One possible conclusion: we tend toward excessive pessimism about our futures.
Another: It would be interesting to parse the oldsters’ responses based on their MMSE scores.
